Case Study
Rigmus Store
The Project
Our first collaboration with Rigmus was when they urgently needed a logo. We created two versions, both of course SVG files (in addition to .png and .jpg), so in vector format for use on the web and in print without loss of quality.
Later they contacted us about their website, asking if we could help them, because rigmus.ro (the old website on their old domain), which was made by another company, looked very unprofessional and several things didn’t work as expected.
Challenges
We had to crawl the content from screenshots from the old website because it had been taken down. Additional information was collected from the partner websites of the brands distributed, as far as product descriptions and some images are concerned. However it was an advantage that we were granted the right to use them by means of an agreement.
On the old website, there were no product categorizations or product variants. We had to help the owner to organize them properly and create variants where appropriate.
Some of the images are not high resolution, have a poor quality and we had to use them in a way that did not detract from the look and feel of the site. Also, the background of some product images had to be removed completely because they did not fit the new design.
Rigmus is a relatively young company, so they needed guidance on the content on some of their legal-based webpages. We read up on some of the draft legislation and helped them with that too. We also helped them with the copy of some of their category/product pages as a bonus.
Solutions
Based on initial discussions and analyses, we decided that Rigmus will get a Shopify administration interface to manage their online shop alongside the presentation WordPress website, which also offers other services (local percussion lessons, local third party customized instrument bag orders) but their online products will be displayed within the WordPress website using an embedding solution. For start, this was a cost-effective method for them.
We created a wireframe design for the main page and used it to plan the content placement, while the inner pages were designed according to the other visual and textual content we had available. So we didn’t use any pre-made templates for the look of the website, the layout is custom and original. We chose the right colors and fonts for the website and processed and optimized the necessary images. We built the pages of the website making sure everything is looking good on portable devices as well.
In parallel, we set up the online shop’s administration interface, uploaded the products and installed and configured the payment gateway. We also added and configured a supplier and invoicing application. The products were embedded in the WordPress website, through which they can be purchased. Everything was double checked and tested before launch and when the project was handed over, we held a training course on managing the administration interface of the website and online store.
We have acquired a new domain name: rigmus.com and hosting, also SSL certificate for Rigmus. All this is free of charge for the first year for our clients. Another bonus was setting up their Google Business profile, also a Business Pinterest page since they did not have these.
