Case Study
Cook Technology Solutions
The Project
As licensed part of WSI’s global network of digital marketing agencies, Cook Technology Solutions, LLC dba WSI wanted to take on the brand’s look and feel, as the old website didn’t reflect this enough.
They wanted a completely new website that closely followed the core design principles of the WSI alliance. To achieve this, they acquired the full brand guideline and included graphics, some of which we could use without modification when adding content. At the same time, we also used customized visual and textual content to highlight the company’s specific unique added value.
Challenges
The so called mother website, wsiworld.com digital marketing company is on WordPress platform, we had to build the new ECT website on DNN with almost the same look and feel using custom CSS and scripts.
The biggest challenge in building the custom skin(template) in the DNN CMS system was the implementation of the megamenu, because DNN alone did not provide a practical solution for this in the given year, and we did not want to use a third party to avoid overloading the system with more extra code besides the strictly necessary modules. We managed to rely on the default DDRMenu/Mega2DNN and with our unique solution as a result we got a nice looking easy to edit megamenu.
Solutions
We had to use specific solutions to implement the plans we received. From a layout point of view, we used the bootstrap-us.css framework we developed ourselves. We created two main skins (templates), one for the main page and one for the internal pages, where we had to keep in mind the varied content placement according to whether it was a top level page, a second, third or fourth level page or a completely custom page, such as the blog/resources. At the same time, we created a variety of so-called containers to ensure optimal content management and uniform style elements.
We were closely involved in the project management and content editing process, to maintain a good progress. For optimal results we were paying close attention to SEO principles, responsiveness, lazy loading images, file and speed optimization, accessibility etc. Some third party modules were installed and configured in order to build the sliders, blog section and the forms on the website. These were also styled to match the rest of design elements. We also created a Styles-page to help ECT digital marketing company team members in further editing.
